FOOD & DRINK
Some of our favorites you need to try!

Flour and Barrel, Raleigh - (2 specialty cocktails free with any Dine-In order over $25) (*$30 value!)šŸ

The menu is amazing, so make sure you try a lot. They’re small plates meant for sharing!

  • If you have not heard of Flour and Barrel yet, well, this is one of Raleigh’s newest and most raved spots in town. They serve delicious Italian small plates and amazing cocktails. We always get the Big A** Meatball and the Radiatore pasta. Yup, I am craving this now.

  • We had our NYE party here AND we are having our Valentine’s Bash here as well, so grab your tickets!

  • This offer is exclusive to Dine-In only, so when you go, make sure you show them this newsletter and tell them, ā€œMegan Sent Meā€!

Tomato Jake’s, Durham - (20% off order?!)

  • For those Magnolia Megan OG’s, we posted about Tomato Jake’s a few years back, and we still love it! Not only is the most of their food scratch-made, they also just recently won ā€œBest Trivia Night in the Triangleā€! Oh, and this is their 5th time winning! 🤯

  • They have been around for 20 years in the Durham area, and you will love the old-school service and community vibe in here. To get your 20% discount, when you order either in store or over the phone, just say ā€œMegan Sent Meā€!

Sage Grazing Charcuterie Boards, Triangle Area - (10% off any order!) šŸ§€

  • This needs to be on your radar for Valentine’s Day! The presentation was so beautiful, and of course everything was delicious. These are handcrafted and they can make a beautiful presentation at your next event on top of a perfect at-home option for Valentine’s Day!

  • They are still working on their website at the moment, so to place an order, go to their Instagram page Here and DM what you would like, and use the code ā€œSage10ā€ for 10% off any order! And you can learn more about them on their IG as well! 😊

Timber Pizza, Raleigh - (10% off only for subscribers!) šŸ•

They also have delicious empanadas that we did not expect to be so good!

  • We stopped at this Raleigh pizza shop near the end of last year, and we really loved the flavors in the different pizzas they offer. They really nailed with ā€œNeapollitan-ishā€ because they have the same roots of presentation and texture, but the flavor combos are what pops! We recommend trying The Bentley and The Worthy, and when you dine-in or take out from their Raleigh location, mention ā€œMegan Sent Meā€ for your 10% discount!

MEG’S PICKS THIS WEEK
Megan’s top picks - Feb 2025

  • Recently we went to Paul and Jack in Wake Forest and they have a pistachio raspberry croissant that was so good! They have some of the best pastries, I just wish it was closer to downtown Raleigh!

  • Paris Baguette in Cary just opened so of course we had to check it out! If you can’t already tell, I’m a huge croissant & anything bakery/cafe fan. I’m glad that NC now has Paris Baguette because we loved this spot during our visit to DC!

These were only a few of their options they have available, and the smells… SO GOOD!

MATT’S PICKS THIS WEEK
Matt’s top picks - Feb 2025

  • I have been on a big kick for butter chicken, and I even tried to make butter chicken for us for the first time recently! It was good, but not nearly as good as Himalayan Nepali Cuisine that we tried a few weeks ago with a friend. The butter chicken here was SO good, you have to go. Oh, and they give you free ginger tea when you sit down!

  • Meg posted this recently, and it went viral which means that people felt the same way as us. We thought, ā€œThis is in downtown Raleigh?ā€. Yes, it is, and yes you should go to Birdie’s! They have a cafe with coffee drinks and pastries, a kitchen and bar!

HOME
How to cool down your home in style this summer? 🪟

Budget Blinds, Raleigh-Durham - (15% off Blinds, Shades and Shutters!)

  • You would be surprised how much you can change the vibe of a room by the appearance of your window coverings! And for me, there are certain things you can figure out yourself, but this is one where I would trust the experts. They have served the Triangle for over 25 years, so they know what they are talking about.

  • They do it all for you– design, measure, and install shades, shutters, automation solutions, and exterior screens and awnings, all backed by best-in-the-business warranties. If you are looking to revamp your interior space or looking to stay ahead of the AC bill in the warmer months, AND you want to do it in style, then this is for you! You can tell them ā€œMegan Sent Meā€ during your initial consultation for your 15% discount, and you can sign up right Here!

STAYS
From the mountains to the beaches šŸŒŠā›°ļø

Log Cabin’s in Hot Springs, NC ($100 off 3-night weekday stay)

  • We have been keeping these cabins on our radar for months now, but we have not had the chance to go yet! Here is your sign to book a mountain retreat of your own in an intimate log cabin where they have 5 options available for you to choose from!

  • Pet friendly, Honeymoon style log cabins with Hot Tubs, nestled on 11 acres of the BRM and Pisgah National Forest.

  • Use code ā€œMEGANā€ for the discount code mentioned above at their website Here, and you can enjoy these cabins at an exclusive discount right outside of Asheville, NC!

Oak Island Beach Front Home ($2500 discount in 2025?!)

This home is seriously so amazing. Right on the beach on the west end of Oak Island.

  • We did have the chance to stay at Golden Gate before and oh my goodness… This place is perfect! Beach front, pool, elevator, dog friendly, sleeps THIRTY people, 10 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms.

  • This is located on the far end of Oak Island near the point, so you really feel like you are in your own little paradise! There are 2 of every appliance and panoramic views of the beach, it’s honestly amazing!

  • You can find more info at the link Here or call them at 910-278-1147 and let them know ā€œMegan Sent Meā€ for the discount!

MEG’S READS
Megan’s Reads - ā€œGood Energyā€

  • The book I would recommend to EVERYONE is Good Energy by Casey Means. I’ve been on a research dive for the last several years about health and this book pretty much sums up a lot of it.

  • The key connection between diseases and sickness is metabolic dysfunction. This book will explain why and give you a guideline on how to live a healthier lifestyle. Starting from the cellular level, your cells generate energy but when they can’t generate that energy properly that’s when disease forms.

  • Modern lifestyles disrupt our mitochondria’s ability to convert ATP (energy). Examples of those disturbances are processed foods, sleep deprivation, artificial light, toxins in the environment and in products, electromagnetic radiation, and more. This causes our body to not get the fuel it needs and to be overwhelmed with stressors & toxins. Eventually, our body breaks down and disease is a side-effect of this.

  • The good thing is that it can be fixed if you begin to remove those stressors and fuel your body with the nutrients & activity it needs. You will start to see your body heal and as a result be able to live a healthier lifestyle! I could go on about this, but you get the idea haha.

MATT’S READS
Matt’s Reads - ā€œMade to Stickā€

  • I've been intrigued with the book Made to Stick by Chip and Dan Heath, especially the chapter on what truly grabs attention—surprise. It sounds simple, but when broken down, it’s powerful.

  • Our brains use constructed schemas to categorize information. When we encounter something new and interesting, it triggers surprise, forcing our brains to process and create a new schema.

  • This directly applies to social media—if your video doesn’t stop the scroll in the first few seconds, you’ll lose your audience (our attention span is now shorter than a goldfish’s—5 seconds!). A strong hook isn’t optional; it’s essential and we know this all too well in our world!

FITNESS
Mental Stimulation and Physical Workout - Boxing 🄊

Knuckle Up Boxing Gym (20% off first month membership + complimentary first visit - no obligation!)

  • We have been going to Knuckle Up for about 3 years now when moved from Houston, Texas, and we love everything about it! If you are looking for a community of like-minded people who are trying to learn a new skill (boxing or strength training), then this is your spot.

  • Matt has been taking personal training sessions with coach Lopez for a while now, and he has gotten so much better in a quicker time because of this as well. Watch out Jake Paul?

  • Boxing has been such a mental stimulation, almost as much as a physical workout, which is why we love it so much. And, there is no better time than to try it for yourself now by showing the front desk this newsletter and letting them know, ā€œMegan Sent Meā€!

MEG’S THOUGHTS
Megan’s Thoughts - Edition 0

  • We stopped using our microwave. Just one of the things we have changed in our home over the last few years, but this one was difficult to do (or so I thought until I actually did it). I thought microwaves were essential. A modern convenience, how could we not use it? How would we warm up leftovers in a few seconds? How would I be able to melt butter?

  • Why? I bought an electromagnetic frequency detector and tested our microwave. By turning the microwave on I saw the levels spike to blinking red at dangerous levels starting a few feet from the microwave. It was consistent every time the microwave was on. Immediately we unplugged it and decided we’re done using it.

  • Since then, we have been using our non-toxic stainless-steel air fryer to warm up leftovers (and they taste so much better than leftovers ever did in a microwave), I warm up drinks in a stainless-steel saucepan or use my glass kettle, I melt butter in a little stainless-steel melter that I got on Amazon, and I realized that we never really needed a microwave. And now our home is a little healthier than it used to be, and our food tastes better too! šŸ˜„

MATT’S THOUGHTS
Matt’s Thoughts - Edition 0

  • NC weather has been all over the place - 30 degree swings, snow one week, 72 degrees the next. Coming from Pittsburgh, I can handle the cold, but this can stop anytime now haha.

  • Continued learning - Reading Made to Stick has reinforced how important continued learning is - especially in social media. It’s not going anywhere so let’s keep learning (but I am looking at you, Tiktok…).

  • Action > Motion - Planning is great, but without action, you’re stuck. Even imperfect action moves you forward!
